"Why is Melbourne the allergy capital of the world?"
Posted on 24 August 2016
We have always known that 'there is something in the Melbournian air' when it comes to allergies. Latest findings show that low exposure to Vitamin D makes children more susceptible to developing food allergies. They also blame cleanliness and lack of exposure to a wider variety of foods.
So, what can we do?
We can't change where Melbourne is but we can improve our attitude to germs, take your children to farms from an early age, let them pet cats and dogs and play in the mud. It is also recommended by these findings that we introduce dairy and nuts from as early as 6 months of age in small amounts.
